The 4th of July

It's so crazy to think this is our last 4th of July as a family of 2. This time next year we will have an almost 7 month old. Wild!!

I wonder how our little one will handle fireworks. I have 2 cousins and one hates the sound and one loves them.

This year we are having a few couples over and doing a low key cookout and going to see the fireworks show in our neighborhood. I just wasn't up to doing a big to do this year. Sleep has definitely been more appealing to me!

We got to hear The Peanut's heartbeat on Friday! So exciting! It feels slightly more real now. I think once I feel it move it will sink in! We find out in just 25 days what we're having!!!

12 weeks

Totally thought I was done with my first trimester.... 12 weeks, 4 weeks in a month = 3 months = 1 trimester. NOPE. Since pregnancy is 40 weeks. I still have another week. Bummer. The good news is I am starting to feel better. I haven't thrown up in the past 2 days. This is HUGE! I'm still feeling nauseous, so I am taking my meds still just to make sure I don't throw up. I am also trying to drink lots of water since my doctor said I was a little dehydrated last time. The only problem that comes with this, is I have to pee ALL THE TIME! It's really annoying. Like last night we went up to bed and were watching a movie and I swear every 45 minutes I had to pee. I am also still napping at least once a day. I'm so ready to have a renewed sense of energy!!

Anyways, this week the Peanut will be the size of a peach. It is rapidly growing!! Already about 3 inches long. Up until now the baby's intestines have been growing in the umbilical cord. Crazy, right?? Now they are starting to move into their permanent spots inside the baby. The placenta is also growing. It is about an ounce now, but will be 1-2 pounds at the birth. The vocal chords are also developing this week. Let's hope this kid's vocal chords take after mine and not Matt's =)

Matt and I are trying to stay in more to save money and try to get things finally accomplished around the house. So far we still haven't gotten much accomplished, but we're working on it. As soon as we find out what we're having, we are going to do a total overhaul on the nursery. Just 33 days!!

11 Weeks

Today we are 11 weeks along! This week The Peanut is the size of a large plum and is about 2 1/2 inches long and weighs about 1/2 and ounce. It has doubled in size in the past 3 weeks!!! It's starting to move around a lot more, but I won't be able to feel it for another 2 months or so. This time next year our baby will be 24 weeks old!!!!

I feel like there has been a significant change in my belly this week. I have a baby bump now! I am almost completely in maternity shirts. My pants still fit just fine because I think I am carrying high (a girl??) but I'm really not sure since I've never done this before! And it feels so weird because there is an actual weight in my belly now. I also started taking anti nausea medicine for morning sickness. It has definitely helped with nausea and throwing up, but it makes me SUPER sleepy! I've had to cut the pills in 1/4 to take them.

STILL have not done anything to get more prepared. I am really hoping that I can start on painting a dresser for the baby's room and move some furniture around. I really need someone to come help and kick me into gear!! I did set the appointment to find out what we're having. We will hopefully know July 29 at 5:00!!!

Here is this week's belly pictures:

Wow...

So this morning I realized I am 1/4 of the way through the pregnancy. Wow. I can't believe how fast time is moving!! I had my first "OMG I'm not ready to be a mom" moment. Does every new parent go through this? I mean, I know I'm plenty old enough buy I feel SO young! I feel like I have so much time ahead of me. Am I really ready for this?? This is the most nerve-wracking thing I have EVER done in my life!

10 Weeks

Today we are officially 10 weeks along!! I thought that "morning sickness" was over, but no such luck. But I've only been getting sick about once a day for the past few days. Monday was pretty rough. Nausea has gotten better though.

This week The Peanut is about 2 inches long , so about the size of a lime. There are definite male or female characteristics forming. We just can't see them yet! This week it's also growing hair and fingernails and the fingers and toes aren't webbed anymore. And apparently the baby is also moving around a lot now. I just can't feel it yet.

I am so so so ready to stop being sick and grow a little. To actually feel like I'm pregnant. I'm hoping that I'll get enough rest this weekend and start getting the nursery ready. I feel so unprepared for this kid! Even though I know that I have time, I feel so unprepared. So if anyone wants to help me paint and move furniture, please feel free to come over!!

I'm going to start putting up belly pictures every week, so here is the first one!

Finally!!

Today is the first day in a LONG time that I have not been nauseous at all!! I am actually thinking that every food sounds totally yummy and am so excited about eating! Hopefully I'm through with morning sickness!!!

I've been researching 3d Ultrasounds a little more and I really really really want to do it. There is one in Marietta http://www.nestlednewborn.com/ that I like so far. So if anyone wants to get me a present, a gift certificate here would be awesome ;) Hopefully in just a month and a half we can find out what this peanut is!!!

We've also started telling more people. We'll probably make it "official" in the next couple weeks. I'm getting more and more excited.

9 weeks

Tomorrow we will be officially 9 weeks along! This week our peanut will grow from the size of an olive to the size of a prune. Bones and cartilage are beginning to form as are the knees and ankles. The arms already have elbows that can flex. Here is a picture of what the baby should look like:
Fetal Development Week 10

This week has been really rough for me this week as far as morning sickness goes. The past two days especially. So far no major cravings except for that meatball sub I wanted a couple weeks ago =) Hopefully the nausea will be over in the next couple of weeks and I can start eating all the food I want!!

8 weeks

So we are officially past the 8 week mark! We went to the doctors last week and were able to see our peanut in an ultrasound! I think it really sunk in for Matt. It still hasn't sunk in for me yet. Even though my boobs are huge and sore and I've been sick I still don't FEEL pregnant! We also found out that we can find out the sex at 20 weeks. I've been searching around for 3D ultrasounds and according to those we can find out at 16 weeks. I REALLY want to do one of those. I'm so ready to know what the kid is!!! Then we can really start decorating and buying stuff. I can't wait!!

1st appointment

We went to our first doctors appointment this week. Our baby is due on January 7. That means today I am officially 6 weeks along! According to my books the baby is the size of a sweet pea or a blueberry. Even though it's small it's already 10,000 times bigger than it was a month ago! This week the peanut will start forming it's arm and leg buds, eyes, and mouth. It's heart is also beating. We go back to have our first ultrasound in a week and half! Hopefully we'll get good video and pictures of the heartbeat!!
Here are a picture I found of what the peanut should look like:
Your Pregnancy - Second Month Photo

Crazy, huh?!? It still looks like a tadpole, but it's starting to look more and more like a baby. As the pregnancy progresses I'll try to post pictures of what the peanut should look like. As soon as I start growing I'll also post pictures of that =)

Luckily so far I've only had a few bouts with "morning" sickness. I quote morning because mine has happened at night and then all day yesterday! But today I feel great! Let's hope it continues!!

My blog now has a purpose

Matt and I learned some very exciting news yesterday. We're going to have a baby!! It all feels so surreal. My body doesn't even feel different which really makes it seem unreal. I took about 6 tests to make sure it was true!! It's exciting but very nerve wracking at the same time. My biggest concerns of the moment are the fact that I don't have maternity leave with my current company, I won't have maternity insurance until July, and all the basic baby concerns. We have our first doctors appointment next Monday morning. Hopefully it'll be a lot of good news!!
